Worker's Compensation Payments Always late? Here's the Solution! Expressed opinion by Robert Scholeck, PFIW Berks County To All My Injured Brothers & Sisters Anyone receiving late worker's compensation checks constantly should contact the Director of the Worker's Compensation Bureau at:
For the past six and a half years I have been having problems with Zurich Insurance Company living up to the agreement I signed with them to pay me my benefit checks every fourteen days. As a result of that I don't know if my benefit check will arrive on the due date, which has always been a Monday. This has caused me to suffer a great financial problem. It was literally ruining me financially! This angered me to the point that I felt I had to do something to put an end to my financial disaster. At the Pennsylvania Worker's Compensation Advisory Council meeting held on September 19, 2002 I spoke out for all injured workers on this issue of timely benefit payments. Director Thompson said "I want all injured workers to receive their benefit check on time" and that he has been working very hard to get the insurance companies to comply and make payments on a more timely manner. The director said he would look into my problem I was having receiving late benefit checks from Zurich Insurance Company. Since then I have called Director Thompson and yes he did look into my problem, only to be lied to by a representative of Zurich Insurance Company. I have followed the advice from one of the director's staff and faxed the director my proof that I was receiving late benefit checks. I sent them copies of the post dates of the envelopes in which I received the benefit checks. This was proof enough for the director to take action. I encourage all who are experiencing the same problem to contact the Director of the Worker's Compensation Bureau. I for one want to see an end to late benefit checks and I would like to see the workers compensation insurance companies penalized when they fail to disperse benefit checks on time. Yours in the Struggle! Robert Scholeck
